Outreach

The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison strives to put the Wisconsin Idea into action. Every semester, CEAS hosts and sponsors a wide array of events on- and off-campus, including regularly reoccurring programs such as #WAYWO (What are you working on), #ProfPrac (Professional Practice series), and East Asia Now. The last-mentioned, East Asia Now, selects a relevant topic each year that is explored through 2-3 forums around the state, helping bridge the gap between East Asian current events and the state of Wisconsin.

Annually, CEAS co-hosts a pedagogy workshop for K-16 instructors of East Asian languages in Wisconsin and beyond; each year, a new, classroom applicable theme is chosen to engage educators through the workshop’s various breakout sessions. CEAS also supports the annual UW-PKU Workshop on Higher Education, a scholarly collaboration between the UW-Madison and Peking University that features participants from around the globe.
