Title
K-Drama School: Subway Sandwiches, Coffee and Korean Drama TV History
Abstract
In this lecture, Grace Jung, Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) of Korea Studies at UW Madison explored the following questions: What makes shows like Squid Game and The Glory
so irresistibly bingeable? And what can we learn about our societies and ourselves from watching them?
Jung contextualized the cultural juggernaut that is K-drama within the investments of large Korean food conglomerates as well as the legacy of American imperialism and Japanese colonization.
