Tzu Chi: Serving with Compassion
Abstract
Interested in volunteering and community service? Based in Taiwan, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian and non-governmental organization (NGO) with over 10 million members across chapters in 47 countries. Tzu Chi is dedicated to the missions of charity, medicine, education, and humanistic culture and has been awarded a special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESCO). Representatives from the Midwest Region shared the purpose and history of Tzu Chi, its development in the United States, international disaster relief, environmental protection efforts, and community service across university campuses.
