Title

Constraints and Opportunities for Overseas Foundations and Nonprofit Organizations in China Today

Abstract

CEAS faculty affiliate Mark Sidel gave an overview of the landscape for NGOs in China today and the issues it raises. Since January 1, 2017, the international nonprofit sector has been shaped by a new framework under the Law on the Management of Domestic Activities of Overseas NGOs of the PRC (2016). Under this new law, the scope and shape of the nonprofit sector has been carefully managed by the Chinese government to meet its political and security agendas.
