Information about fellowships and grants available to students is listed below and provided as a service to the East Asian Studies community. Please contact the appropriate agency for information and details about deadlines, applicant requirements, etc. Please note that some fellowship applications, such as the FLAS application, are submitted directly to the Center for East Asian Studies office.

• Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (new)

General scholarships that could be used for undergraduate study of East Asia in the U.S.:

• The Annual Iwanter Prize, Center for Humanities
• Undergraduate Academic Awards Office: Administers several campus-wide and national scholarship competitions, including the Hilldale Research Fellowships for undergraduates.

For Graduate and Post-Doctoral Fellowships

• CEAS Summary of Graduate and Post-Graduate Funding Opportunities in East Asian Studies (pdf): This publication provides a concise summary of sources of funding for graduate and post-doctoral students offered through the UW-Madison and many other institutions.
• University of Wisconsin-Madison International Fellowships Office: The International Fellowships Office provides information to faculty and students interested in identifying international research grants, scholarships, and other funding opportunities. The Office also manages and coordinates international fellowship competitions, including programs sponsored by Fulbright, Luce, the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), the National Security Education Program, the International Research and Exchanges Board, and other major national competitions.
• Graduate School Page on General Fellowships: for graduate study at UW-Madison.
• China Times Cultural Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research in Chinese Studies
  An annual award of $5,000 to doctoral candidates with approved proposals in the humanities or social sciences who are enrolled at an American or Canadanian University. The deadline is June 30, 2010.
