Honorary Fellows Program for Visiting Scholars

The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is proud to offer an affiliation of Honorary Fellow to exceptional scholars and prominent artists, diplomats, journalists, business leaders, and other non-academic professionals.  Our Honorary Fellows Program hopes that its goals of furthering and deepening the understanding of East Asia will benefit from a prolonged connection to its Honorary Fellows.

Honorary Fellows will have opportunities to participate in various research projects and to take advantage of our extensive library collections and other research facilities.  Scholars who wish to join a thriving research community at the University of Wisconsin-Madison may apply for a one-year (maximum) position.  We regret that we cannot, in general, provide funding, but we can help fellows to apply for other funding.  When appropriate, Honorary Fellows may also affiliate with other UW academic departments, and CEAS is happy to arrange affiliation.  The Program is open to applications from all disciplines that propose research projects related to East Asia.  We welcome both U.S. and foreign scholars.

Honorary Fellows are expected to have a Ph.D. or the equivalent in professional experience.  Honorary Fellows are encouraged to participate in events, conferences, and symposiums sponsored by CEAS and are expected to give lectures or workshops about their research.
